A vibrant town, semi Ottoman, semi Hungarian, and home to the famous Zsolnay tiles found throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Nearby is the site of the Battle of Mohacs (1526) when the flower of the Hungarian nobility and the young King of Hungary and Bohemia fell fighting the Ottoman Turks under Suleiman the Magnificent. Transylvania (4th - 10th May)

The Crimea (21st - 26th September)
The glamorous past of Yalta is evoked by her fine palaces of Livadia, Alupka and Massandra, among others. Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard and Three Sisters on this coast. We shall also visit Sevastapol and
Balaklava, before continuing by train to Odessa, to spend a day and a half in this beautiful, revitalized city.
